Bunjil the Eagle

Bunjil the Eagle is Peninsula Specialist College’s Reconciliation song to celebrate the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People and our connection to the Boonwurrung land. The lyrics reflect our values of respect and identity, and were derived from our students’ stories, reflections, Boonwurrung language learning and cultural journey over the last few years in collaboration with Aunty Fay Stewart Muir (www.vaclang.org.au/ ), Aunty Marg (PSC) and Peninsula Specialist College community.

Bunjil the Eagle was first performed to celebrate the opening of our Yulendj Laang Area, a creation of John Murray (www.learningstones.com.au ). ‘Yulendj Laang’ is the name of our ‘Learning Stones’ area in Boonwurrung language meaning ‘Making Connections’. Musicians Isabelle Reynaud, Richard Butler, Josh Koop, Kumar Shome and Terry Hart assisted Peninsula Specialist College to produce the song. Our students are very proud of their song and enjoy sharing it so please enjoy and sing a long.
